Tripura congress leaders press for fair Lok Sabha elections in meeting with CEO

Ashish Kumar Saha, President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee and Lok Sabha candidate for West Tripura, led a delegation of Congress leaders in a meeting with Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer, Puneet Agarwal, on Tuesday. Their primary demand: ensure a free, fair, and peaceful Lok Sabha election in the state. Expressing dissatisfaction with past election experiences, Saha reiterated the opposition’s concerns about the electoral process. Despite previous engagements with the State Election Commission, Saha emphasized the need for proactive measures to address political unrest and ensure an equitable election environment.

“As opposition parties, we remain discontent with the electoral process in Tripura. We have consistently raised our grievances and today, once again, we urged the Chief Electoral Officer to prioritize transparency and peace in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” stated Saha. Highlighting the imperative of creating a conducive atmosphere before announcing election dates, Saha underscored the Congress party’s commitment to safeguarding democratic rights and ensuring the safety of citizens during the electoral process.

“We shoulder the responsibility of upholding democracy and protecting the interests of the people,” affirmed Saha, emphasizing the significance of the meeting with the CEO in conveying the concerns of the opposition. Following the discussion, Saha expressed optimism, citing assurances from the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the implementation of necessary measures to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
