Rajya Sabha Member and West Tripura Lok Sabha candidate, Biplab Kumar Deb, lambasted the CPIM on Sunday, alleging the communist regime in Tripura of engaging in oppression through extortion. Speaking at a program in South District, Deb asserted that extortion, rampant during the communist rule, has ceased since the BJP assumed power in 2018.”Under the communist regime, Tripura suffered from extortion. Presently, extortion is non-existent. CPIM has failed to address the concerns of both permanent and temporary employees in the state,” Deb asserted.

He highlighted the initiatives taken by the BJP government in Tripura, citing the payment of a 25 percent Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief (DA/DR) to government employees. “What has the CPIM government done for the employees? They have done nothing. Since the BJP government took charge in Tripura, a 25 percent DA/DR has been granted to government employees without any need for agitation. During the previous administration, progress was only possible through agitation,” he emphasized.

Deb further noted the discontinuation of forceful subscription collections or extortion since the BJP’s ascension to power in Tripura. “Previously, the government forcibly collected subscription fees from government employees, a practice halted after the BJP took office,” he said.
