Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha, issued a stern warning to Congress on Wednesday, emphasizing the imperative of standing independently in Tripura to reclaim political power. Debbarma cautioned that any alliance with CPIM would only serve to weaken the grand old party’s position in the state. Addressing a press conference, Debbarma underscored his resolve to combat CPIM, asserting that the upcoming East parliamentary constituency election would witness a significant anti-CPIM sentiment among voters. “In the past 75 years, Tripura has witnessed high voter turnouts, yet developmental progress in tribal areas remains minimal.

CPIM’s prolonged rule in the state prioritized Agartala city and its environs, neglecting the genuine concerns of tribal communities regarding infrastructure,” remarked Debbarma. “The longstanding issues faced by tribal communities, such as inadequate roads and water facilities, demand urgent attention. This is not merely a recent predicament but a cumulative failure over the past 75 years.”Debbarma reiterated his stance against CPIM, particularly in East Tripura, emphasizing the need for a concerted effort to thwart their influence.

“While maintaining goodwill towards Congress, I abstained from criticizing the party during campaigning. However, it is evident that Congress workers, once targeted by CPIM, now find themselves inclined towards supporting them. Our alliance stands as a bulwark against CPIM’s dominance,” asserted Debbarma. “On April 26, the electorate will express their discontent with CPIM’s governance. Congress leaders advocating for CPIM during campaigning will find themselves at odds with the sentiments of their own party members. In a democracy, the opposition’s role is pivotal, and if Congress aims to regain prominence, it must strengthen its position independently. Any collaboration with CPIM will only serve to dilute the party’s strength.”
