The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura has raised concerns over alleged disruptions in election campaigns by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has sought intervention from the Election Commission of India (ECI) for ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections in the state. In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, CPIM state committee secretary Jitendra Chaudhury outlined instances where opposition parties, including CPIM, faced obstacles during their campaign activities.

Chaudhury highlighted instances where permissions for rallies or processions were granted for odd hours or limited durations, impeding their campaign efforts. He further alleged that BJP workers disrupted their activities by playing loud music and organizing bandhs in adjacent areas, compelling shop owners to close shutters. The CPIM leader also accused BJP leaders of intimidating providers from offering sound systems and chairs for CPIM meetings, forcing them to address crowds without adequate equipment.

Additionally, Chaudhury pointed out discrepancies in the display of campaign materials, alleging that while BJP flags, festoons, and hoardings were prominently displayed, CPIM materials were defaced or removed. He also highlighted the construction of BJP booth offices on prohibited land, violating election laws.
