The T20 World Cup is less than a month away. India has already announced a team of 15. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya got places there. That’s why Brian Lara warned the Indian team. Why did he say that?
According to Lara, having too many stars in the team sometimes kills the plan. The same can happen in India. In an interview given to news agency PTI, Lara said, “Many times when there are several stars in the team, the plan does not go well. Everyone thinks that the stars will win the team. If there are stars like Viv Richards or Virat, Rohit, Hardik in the team, the coach also has problems. The coach hesitates to tell these stars what their role is. It often goes against the team.”
The Indian team has six cricketers who have experience of captaining the national team or in the IPL. Lara thinks it can be counterproductive. “There is no shortage of experience in the Indian team,” he said. “After that, my advice to (Rahul) Dravid is to prepare your plan. Tell everyone to play accordingly. The problem is letting the stars get out of hand. It has been seen many times before, good teams don’t win trophies. Because , the stars play like themselves. That’s not the case with India.”
