Ruturaj Gaikwad credited the duo for the crucial win against Mumbai Indians. The Chennai Super Kings captain named one freshman and one senior member of the team.

“We needed to bat and bowl well to beat Mumbai. Our Malinga (Makhisa Pathirana as Chennai cricketers call him) bowled really well. A lot of the credit for this win came from Malinga’s yorkers,” said Ruturaj after the win at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. I have to say about Tushar Deshpande. They also bowled well. We did not want to try anything extra.

Along with Pathirana, he credited another teammate for his batting. Mahendra Singh Dhoni got a chance to play 4 balls in Sunday’s match. Scored 20 runs unbeaten. 3 sixes came from the former captain’s bat. Dhoni’s innings made the difference in the win against Mumbai. However, the Chennai captain did not take his name! He said, “Three sixes from our young wicketkeeper-batsman gave us a big advantage. The short innings showed where we were different from the others. We felt it would be good if we could add 10-15 runs.

Yashpreet Bumra bowled very well in the middle part of the innings to get us runs. The pace was down a bit. So we thought of getting a little more runs at the end. Our young wicketkeeper did that very easily. His innings was the margin of victory.” In fact, the Chennai captain did not mention the former captain’s name despite giving credit to Dhoni for his innings.
