A group of aspirants for the Selection Test For Graduate Teacher (STGT) staged a protest on Monday outside Shiksha Bhawan in Agartala, demanding the immediate release of exam results and swift recruitment processes. During the demonstration, one protester informed reporters that they had taken the exam in 2022 but have yet to receive any results.”We appeared for the exam in 2022, but there has been no communication regarding the results. Until we receive clarification, our protest will continue. We appeal to our state government and the concerned minister to expedite the process and initiate recruitment without delay,” he asserted.
Another demonstrator highlighted the financial strain they are facing, with mounting pressure from banks to repay loans taken to cover expenses for B.Ed and STGT exams.”People from various parts of the state, who have successfully cleared the STGT, have gathered here. It has been two years since we passed the STGT exams, yet we have not received any updates or results from the department. We are here outside Shiksha Bhawan to seek information,” he stated.
“Former Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath had acknowledged Tripura’s teacher shortage and introduced a loan facility for B.Ed studies to address it. However, after completing B.Ed and the STGT exam, there has been no progress. We are now facing pressure and notices from banks to repay the loans. Our parents are enduring hardships, and Tripura continues to grapple with a teacher shortage. We demand immediate recruitment,” he said.
