During the ceremony, Home Minister Amit Shah underscored the significance of the accord, emphasizing its role in acknowledging past grievances while forging a path towards a brighter future. “Today, through this accord, we honor history and rectify our errors, charting a course towards progress,” Shah affirmed. The accord, a three-way pact between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and the Tipra Motha, signifies a pivotal stride towards addressing longstanding tribal concerns and safeguarding their rights. Shah lauded the constructive engagement of Tipra Motha, tribal parties, and organizations, recognizing their pivotal role in advancing the peace-building process.
Contextualizing within the broader framework of northeastern development, Shah attributed the region’s stability and prosperity to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the series of accords inked during the Modi government’s tenure, including the recent TIPRASA Accord, totaling eleven agreements aimed at fostering peace and development in the Northeast.
Encompassed within the provisions of the TIPRASA Accord is the establishment of a tripartite committee tasked with overseeing its implementation, ensuring the effective realization of its objectives.
