The 3-Day Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly began from last Friday just ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the state Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy tabling a budget of Rs. 27,804.67 Crore outlay with a deficit of Rs. 410.69 Crore for the 2024-25 Financial Year. The total budget allocation in the Financial year 2024-25 is Rs. 27,894.67 Crores. The Capital expenditure is predicted at Rs. 6,633.80 Crore with an increase of 24.26 percent over the revised estimate of 2023-24. The budget proposal has a deficit of Rs. 410.69 Crores,” State Finance Minister said.
Tabling the budget here in the state legislative assembly house on Friday the minister laid emphasis on education, skill development and infrastructural development. Minister said, “As part of the development for our people’s full potential to propel the state towards the direction of prosperity and sustained growth, the government recognized three thrust areas- education, Skill Development and Infrastructural Development.”
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha declared the budget and termed it as ‘inclusive’ and said, “This budget aimed at building ‘Ek-Tripura, Srestha Tripura, Unnata-Tripura’. It highlights the State Government’s commitment for overall Development of all sections of people.” The proposed budget contemplates the welfare of people from all sections of the society including women, students, youth and other sections including minorities, employees, pensioners,” Minister said, adding that the budget has been prepared with importance to every sector of the State.
