The Khowai district administration in Tripura launched a sports campaign to highlight the importance of educating young people about drug usage and other social ills, according to an official. As part of the “Khowai says YES to life” campaign, players in a variety of sports, including football, volleyball, and cricket, would be tested for serious infectious and lifestyle diseases, she added. In order to raise awareness, pertinent audio and visual messages will also be aired in between games, the official stated. The first game took place on the grounds of the Dakshin Maharani Village Committee in the Mungiakami Block of Khowai.
“There was a lot of involvement in the first football game. More significantly, as part of the event’s requirements, about thirty young people had their blood checked. Chandni Chandran, the district magistrate of Khowai, expressed her optimism that the action will have a good impact on the fight against drug usage. More of these matches will be held in the district in the upcoming weeks, she said. “With this initiative, we intend to test a lot of young people. The health department will find this useful in implementing preventative measures,” she continued.
