Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has vowed strict action against those involved in attacks on journalists, as well as against the forced collection of donations for Puja celebrations. Speaking on Tuesday, Dr. Saha assured that the state government would not tolerate any form of violence against the media, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding press freedom.

Addressing concerns, the CM acknowledged that the culture of attacking journalists had developed over the past 35 years and called for immediate change. “Journalists work tirelessly on the ground. We are committed to ensuring their safety, and I have personally instructed the swift arrest of those responsible for such attacks,” he said.

Dr. Saha also took a firm stance on the forced collection of Puja donations, citing recent incidents in Teliamura, Khowai District, where public vehicles were stopped for forced contributions. “We will not tolerate such acts. I have directed the police to take strict action against anyone involved, regardless of their position,” he warned.
