Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha unveiled plans for the introduction of kidney transplant procedures at the state-run GB Pant Hospital in Agartala. Announcing the initiative on Thursday (May 02), CM Saha revealed that a dedicated team of doctors and staff had undergone specialized training in Manipur and has since returned to kickstart the preparations for the kidney transplant services. “We have engaged in discussions with the principal of AGMC, and preparations are underway to commence these vital services in the near future,” affirmed CM Saha, underlining the state government’s commitment to bolstering healthcare infrastructure.

Addressing concerns regarding water quality within the hospital premises, CM Saha disclosed considerations for installing an iron removal plant to mitigate the issue.”In light of the presence of iron in the water at GB Pant, we are exploring options for installing an iron removal plant. Our vision is to elevate this facility into a center of excellence by leveraging existing infrastructure,” stated CM Saha, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare standards.

The announcements came following CM Saha’s inspection of GB Pant Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College, where he witnessed encouraging progress in various departments. “I conducted an extensive inspection of the super-speciality hospital and engaged with medical professionals to expedite pending tasks. We are working towards establishing seven super-speciality outpatient departments and wards,” remarked CM Saha, highlighting efforts to augment healthcare facilities.
