Tipra Motha Party (TMP) and the BJP are expected to jointly contest the upcoming elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), set for April 13, with counting on April 17. Despite ongoing tensions marked by recent public criticisms between TMP leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and Chief Minister Manik Saha, sources indicate that TMP will likely run in 18-20 seats while the BJP will target 10-8 seats. Although there is no official confirmation yet, a formal agreement is anticipated soon, facilitated by a former Chief Minister. This collaboration, a significant move by Delhi to mitigate conflicts, contrasts with the 2021 elections, where TMP contested independently and emerged victorious, while BJP and its former ally IPFT lost, garnering only nine seats.
