The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Maharashtra, forecasting rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of the state during the week.
According to the weather department, districts such as Solapur, Parbhani, Latur, Dharashiv, and Chandrapur are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next few days. Light to moderate rain along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h may occur at isolated locations.
The IMD has also placed districts including Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nashik, along with the ghat regions of Nashik, under a yellow alert for Monday and the rest of the week.
Despite the rain forecast, several parts of the state continue to experience above-normal temperatures. Interior districts remained particularly warm on Monday, with Malegaon recording one of the highest temperatures at 39.8°C. This was followed by Jeur at 39.5°C and Solapur at 39.0°C.
Other districts also reported high temperatures, including Parbhani at 38.8°C and Osmanabad at 38.4°C, reflecting warmer-than-usual conditions across central parts of the state.
In contrast, the hill station of Mahabaleshwar recorded a comparatively cooler maximum temperature of 29.2°C, the lowest among the listed weather stations.
Meanwhile, temperatures in Mumbai remained relatively moderate. The IMD observatory at Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2°C, while Santacruz Observatory reported 31.9°C. However, minimum temperatures in the city stayed above normal, resulting in warm and humid nights.
Humidity levels remained high in coastal regions such as Dahanu and Mumbai, where morning humidity touched nearly 90 percent. In comparison, interior districts like Aurangabad recorded relatively lower humidity levels.
Air quality in Mumbai showed improvement on Monday, with the city recording a satisfactory Air Quality Index (AQI) of 79, according to data from the SAMEER app. Several monitoring stations across the city reported AQI levels ranging from satisfactory to moderate.
Overall, the weather pattern across Maharashtra currently reflects a mix of heat and sporadic rainfall, with unseasonal showers expected to continue in several districts during the week.
