Tripura’s Agriculture Department is significantly promoting organic farming, with cultivation expanding from 2,000 to approximately 26,000 hectares, as stated by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath during the inauguration of the State Level Kisan Mela 2025-26 in Agartala. The minister highlighted the crucial role of farmers in boosting the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), particularly through agriculture. Tripura has achieved food grain self-sufficiency in three districts, with this year’s food production increasing by 12% compared to last year, showcasing the agriculture sector’s vitality and the engagement of youth in farming. Additionally, about 1.52 million farmers are enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and the state government has invested Rs 461 crore over the past seven years to enhance agricultural markets statewide. The event was attended by officials and farmers from various districts.
