Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that Finland is an “important partner” of India in the Nordic region and that the two countries are increasing their collaboration in polar and Arctic research. PM Modi said that the two countries have also decided to increase research cooperation in teacher training, school-to-school partnerships, and the future of education during a joint press conference with Finland President Alexander Stubb after their discussions at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
“Indian talent and students are increasingly choosing Finland as their destination. In order to link the two nations’ innovative ecosystems, we today inked a comprehensive migration and mobility agreement with Finland.” PM Modi stated, “With this, we are also going to further strengthen joint research and startup collaboration.” “I warmly welcome President Stubb on his first visit to India as President of Finland,” Prime Minister Modi said, “extending a hearty welcome to Stubb on his maiden trip to India. In addition to being a well-known world leader, President Stubb is a famous author and thinker. Having a seasoned and energetic leader like you as this year’s Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue is a huge honor and pleasure for us.”
Global stability, growth, and shared prosperity are being strengthened by the increasing cooperation between Europe and India, according to PM Modi. Additionally, he discussed the newly negotiated Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union (EU) and India. “The globe is currently experiencing a moment of unpredictability and volatility. Conflict is still going on in many places of the world, from West Asia to Ukraine. Global stability, growth, and shared wealth are being strengthened by our increasing cooperation. The historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was signed at the start of 2026.” He stated, “This agreement will further strengthen trade, investment, and technology cooperation between Finland and India.”
