Union Minister of State Independent Charge for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh said that Tripura has taken a lead in the State Innovation Mission and has also shown the way to other states and union territories in the country to follow the suit.
Speaking at the launch of the State Innovation Mission in Agartala, Singh said that NITI Aayog has decided to start as many as 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in the country which will be setup in each and every district of the country.
He said, in the past, the NITI Aayog had rolled out around 10 thousand Atal Tinkering Labs in the country.
He also praised Tripura for the 150 startups which are functional in the state considering the size of the state. He noted that there are around two lakh startups in the country now, the figure which has exponentially grown from mere 350-400 startups back in 2014.
He observed that state innovation missions are guided by the national innovation mission, asserting that when states innovate, the country accelerates. He said, the state innovation mission is a classic example of cooperative and competitive federalism.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state would come up with an artificial intelligence policy, which will be the first of its kind initiative in the country. He said, the artificial intelligence policy will be designed with the assistance of Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog.
Speaking at the launch of the State Innovation Mission in Agartala, the Chief Minister said that Tripura would also introduce the AI based solution for city management in Agartala to curb traffic woes, car parking problems, uninterrupted power supply, pure and potable drinking water, flood control, solid and liquid waste management among others.
Saha said that Tripura is in process of establishing the AI Centre of Excellence with the assistance of the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT.
He further said that the state government is also planning to set up Tripura IT and data economic zone to promote IT, ITES and data centre eco-system.
The Chief Minister said the demand for software enterprises is steadily growing in Tripura and as a reason IT parks would be set up to provide co-working spaces in a single campus.
