State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has partnered with Ericsson, Qualcomm, Cisco, and Nokia through memoranda of understanding to introduce advanced digital skilling programmes at the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative, launched in the presence of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, aims to train over 2,000 students annually in key emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), networking, and cybersecurity.
Scindia highlighted India’s growing importance in the global talent landscape, noting that nearly 50% of the world’s human resource potential resides in the country. He also hinted that other companies like TCS and Tejas Networks may soon join similar partnerships. “India is moving from local to global. We won’t just make in India—we’ll make for the world,” he said.
These collaborations align with the Department of Telecommunications’ plan to establish the Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Centre (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT. Under the MoUs, each tech firm will contribute specialised resources and training programmes. Phase 1 of the initiative will involve investments exceeding ₹1 crore, with course durations ranging from two-week modules to extended 84-hour programmes.
