Widespread protests broke out across Tripura on Thursday in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 tourists dead, including two foreign nationals. The incident has triggered public outrage and united calls for swift and strict action against the perpetrators. At Tripura Central University, students and faculty led by Vice Chancellor Ganga Prasad Prasain staged a protest rally to express solidarity with the victims’ families. The rally demanded stern punishment for those responsible for the attack.

In Agartala, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) held a major protest, burning Pakistan’s flag and chanting slogans such as “Pakistan Murdabad.” VHP leader Sankar Roy claimed the victims were specifically targeted for being Hindus and called the attack a brutal act of religious hatred. Legal bodies including the Khowai and Sabroom Bar Councils also condemned the attack, urging justice and stringent counter-terror measures. The Sadar District Congress Committee joined the wave of protest, alongside the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which mobilized students across the state.

“This is the moment for unity, not silence,” said ABVP State Secretary Gaurab Das, calling for unwavering national resolve against terrorism.
