The writer of the highly acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, Biplab Goswami, who is from Agartala, Tripura, won the IIFA award for Best Original Story. In addition to winning hearts all over India, this Bollywood masterpiece, which was produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Kiran Rao, also ushered in a new era of Hindi filmmaking. Laapataa Ladies has received a lot of praise since its 2024 premiere for its gripping narrative and perceptive analysis of the difficulties encountered by Indian women.
Goswami’s story has struck a deep chord with viewers all across the world because it is the ideal fusion of humor, pathos, and social consciousness. Goswami added that Laapataa Ladies was given a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival shortly after its premiere. Goswami recalled the historic IIFA award event, stating that the gifted Vijay Varma gave him his prize after Bollywood heavyweights Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar revealed it. Regarding the IIFA awards, he said the film took home ten prizes in all, including Best Supporting Role and Best Director.
