Security forces have arrested eight cadres and recovered arms, ammunition in Manipur

Eight cadres were apprehended and 25 firearms, ammunition, and warlike supplies were retrieved in a series of combined operations carried out in several Manipur districts by the Indian Army, the Assam Rifles, the Manipur Police, and other security agencies, officials said on Monday. A statement stated that the activities took place in the districts of Kakching, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Chandel.

A search operation was carried out by Assam Rifles on February 2 in the Laiching-Duthang Junction area of Chandel district in response to intelligence. The search resulted in the recovery of a number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition, grenades, a 12 Bore rifle, a 9mm pistol, a country-made Pt 303 rifle, an AK-47 rifle, and other warlike supplies.

One AK-47 rifle, two 9mm submachine guns, two pistols, one 2-inch mortar, grenades, two IEDs, and ammunition were found in the Saiton Khunao and surrounding villages in the state’s Bishnupur district on February 3 by the Indian Army, which was working with the CRPF and Manipur Police.
