Rakesh Sinha, Commandant of the 81 Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), received the coveted Director General’s Commendation Card and Disc from Amitabh Ranjan, Director General of Tripura Police, in recognition of his exceptional services to border security. At a ceremonial event in Agartala, the honor was given in appreciation of the 81 Battalion’s outstanding operational and administrative accomplishments. The 81 Battalion, stationed at the Sonamura border, is honored for its outstanding administrative and operational accomplishments.

The battalion, led by Sinha, has played a crucial role in successfully thwarting trans-border crimes and deterring infiltration by Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals. Because of the 81 Battalion’s unwavering efforts, infiltrators have been apprehended and large quantities of illicit commodities have been seized, enhancing regional security and stability. There is a strong sense of unity and cooperation in guaranteeing the safety and security of the country, as evidenced by Tripura Police’s initiative to recognize the contributions of personnel from central police units like the BSF.

Rakesh Sinha and the entire 81 Battalion team’s devotion and hard work are reflected in this distinction. According to officials, the BSF 81 Battalion, which is based in Sonamura in the Sepahijala District, confiscated two kilograms and 177 grams of gold from NC Nagar earlier this month. The gold was worth at around Rs 1.74 crore. Two or three Bangladeshi smugglers crossed the border and dumped some goods in the direction of the border. But according to police, the smugglers were able to escape because of the dense fog.
