Assam Rifles stated that they had arrested one person and collected heroin valued at Rs 97.90 lakh in the general region of Zote, Champhai district, on Saturday. Laltanpuia, a 35-year-old inhabitant of Tlangsam hamlet in the Champhai district, has been identified as the accused. According to the announcement, the entire shipment and the person who was arrested have been turned over to the Champhai Excise and Narcotics Department for additional legal action.
The continuous smuggling of illegal goods is a serious problem for both India and the state of Mizoram. Assam Rifles has boosted its attempts to capture the leaders of the unlawful smuggling of contraband commodities in Mizoram and has persisted in its efforts to combat illegal smuggling. In a coordinated operation with the Mizoram Special Narcotics CID, Assam Rifles arrested three people in Aizawl on Friday and seized heroin valued at Rs 9.51 lakh from them, according to an official. Ngurthanzami and Bikash Gharti have been recognized as the people that were arrested.
“Assam Rifles recovered 13.590 gms of heroin No. 4 worth Rs 9.51 lakh and apprehended three individuals (one female and two male) (Ngurthanzami, (29), resident of New Champhai, Mizoram; Bikash Gharti, (24), resident of Zemabawk S.A Veng, Aizawl, Mizoram; and Lalramthara, (37), resident of Tuikual South, Aizawl, Mizoram) from the general area of Zemabawk S.A Veng, Aizawl district, on January 10,” according to a press release.
