Bangladeshi man’s body found in Tripura, repatriated after post-mortem

The body of a Bangladeshi national, Zahur Ali (55), was handed over to Bangladeshi authorities on January 9 after being recovered in Tripura’s Khowai district. Ali, a resident of Paschim Dulna village in Habiganj district, was identified through photographs circulated on social media.

The body was discovered on January 6 near the Gournagar Panchayat office and transported to the district hospital morgue for investigation. Local police, along with the BSF, coordinated with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Chunarughat police to facilitate the repatriation.

After a post-mortem and necessary administrative procedures, the body was handed over at the Khowai Puran Bazar Checkpost. Police suspect Ali entered Tripura illegally, as his son reported that his sandal and mobile phone were found near their home.
