SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, is redefining urban transportation with the launch of its two new electric city buses: the SWITCH EiV12 for India and the SWITCH E1 for Europe. The SWITCH EiV12, India’s first low-floor city bus with chassis-mounted batteries, boasts an impressive 400 kWh of scalable battery capacity, ensuring long-range performance and a smooth ride for passengers. Unveiled by ShriNitinGadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, the bus is designed with maximum comfort and safety in mind, offering seating for 39 passengers.
The SWITCH E1, created for European markets, features innovative in-wheel motors and a triple-door design for easier access and convenience. Both buses incorporate SWITCH’s advanced EV architecture, setting new standards for energy efficiency and passenger comfort.
With India’s electric city bus market set to grow rapidly, the SWITCH EiV12 is already in high demand, with over 1,800 pre-orders. For Agartala, the introduction of these electric buses offers a sustainable solution to the city’s increasing transportation needs. With rising pollution levels and traffic congestion, the SWITCH EiV12 could provide a cleaner, more efficient option, contributing to a greener, smarter urban mobility system in the region.
