According to officials, Mizoram has had at least 147 TB-related deaths since January of this year. According to data made public at the start of a 100-day TB elimination program here, out of 24,017 samples examined between January and December, 2,164 people have been diagnosed with the disease. It revealed that 80% of the infected patients received successful treatment (during the period), whereas 147 individuals who received TB therapy have passed away from the illness.
According to officials, 108 people in the northeastern state lost their lives to tuberculosis last year. The campaign’s initiator, State Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister B Lalchhanzova, stated that in addition to government efforts, community involvement, churches, and non-governmental organizations are essential to the success of the elimination push. Additionally, he called on everyone to come up and provide their support to the state government’s effort.
