Tripura Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced on Thursday that the state’s ongoing petrol and diesel crisis would be resolved with the arrival of petrol-laden wagons within a day. The minister confirmed that the situation has already improved, with the wagons reaching the state.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of a review meeting for the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Chowdhury stated that district and subdivision-level officials, food inspectors, and directorate representatives were gathered to discuss key issues, including the launch of paddy procurement for the upcoming Rabi crop season.

When questioned about the rising prices of vegetables and agricultural goods in local markets, the minister clarified that his department was not responsible for regulating agricultural products. He attributed the price surge to the recent floods, which had severely impacted local production. The floods forced traders to source vegetables from other states, significantly increasing transportation costs and retail prices.
