Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced on November 6 that a substantial grant of Rs 78 crore from the 15th Finance Commission will bolster development initiatives within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). This funding, released by the Central government, aims to accelerate infrastructure and welfare projects across tribal regions in the state.
Speaking to India Today NE, Singha Roy highlighted that the state government has also allocated an additional Rs 30 crore to the TTAADC outside the state budget to support ongoing development work. “We have multiple demands, especially for the TTAADC, to ensure projects are uninterrupted,” he noted.
Despite flood-related challenges, the Tripura government has announced Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for government employees and pensioners, as well as welfare measures for the Tripura State Rifles and Tripura Police.“The TTAADC’s development has been a long-standing demand, and now, with this support from the Centre, we anticipate a significant boost in progress,” the minister added.
