Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Foundation eyes Ayurvedic College in Tripura, says CM Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced today that the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Foundation has expressed interest in establishing an Ayurvedic college in the state. Speaking at the State Level Ayurvedic Day event at Pragna Bhavan Hall in Agartala, Dr. Saha also revealed that the state government recently allocated Rs 1.50 crore for the procurement of Ayurvedic medicines to be distributed free of cost to the public.

Highlighting the historical importance of Ayurveda, Dr. Saha noted, “Ayurveda was once intertwined with nature, attracting scholars worldwide to institutions like Nalanda and Takshashila.” He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ministry of AYUSH for integrating diverse medical disciplines and bridging gaps between fields like Allopathy, Ayurveda, and Homeopathy.

In his address, Dr. Saha, who also holds the health portfolio, shared plans to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Tripura. He mentioned recent discussions with Health Secretary Kiran Gitte regarding the Ayurvedic college proposal and underscored the state’s commitment to modernizing its healthcare system, including the establishment of a health hub and a superspecialty hospital.
