According to a police statement issued on Friday, Manipur authorities have successfully retrieved a sizable cache of weapons and explosives from the districts of Bishnupur and Imphal West. The SLR 7.62 mm rifle, one magazine, six HE 36 grenades, four grenade arm rings, two tear gas grenades, three stinger grenades, five dual shells, and two WT sets (Baofeng) were among the many weapons recovered from the operation in Uyungmakhong, Bishnupur district. Authorities also found four HE 36 grenade detonators and an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing about 2.3 kg.
At the same time, authorities seized a single-barrel firearm, two locally manufactured 9 mm handguns with magazines, an empty 7.62 LMG magazine, three M-67 hand grenades with detonators, a tube launcher, and four rounds of live ammo from Shantipur Makha Leikai in the Imphal West district. The weapons and explosives that were found have been turned over to the relevant police stations for additional examination and any required action.
