During search operations in the districts of Thoubal, Chandel, and Imphal East in Manipur, security authorities found a massive cache of weapons and ammunition, according to a police statement released on Friday. Leirong Vaiphei village in Imphal East district yielded four live hand grenades, one detonator, one 9mm pistol with magazine, 32 pistol, one wireless radio set, thirty live ammunition, thirty-one blank cartridges, one explosive weighing approximately 2.5 kg, one 303 rifle, one 12 bore double barrel gun, and one Pompi gun, according to the report.
Security personnel confiscated a 9 mm SMG carbine, magazine, two SMG carbine magazines, a hand grenade, 13 live rounds, a detonator, two tear smoke shell soft noses, and two radio sets from B Phainom village in Thoubal district. On October 24, the Manipur police force signed a new contract with the State Bank of India that secured a financial benefits package. The agreement, which offers police officers accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 1 crore, represents a significant advancement in the financial security of law enforcement in the northeastern state.
