Amidst opposition charges of police inaction and political pressure on the force. Tripura Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan stated on Monday that crime in the state has been at its lowest level in a decade. Ranjan’s statements came amid reports of ethnic and sectarian violence in Gandatwisa, Dhalai, and Jirania, West Tripura.
Ranjan emphasized the police’s strong commitment to maintaining law and order, saying that CM Manik Saha has given them complete authority to take action against lawbreakers and ensure law and order. However, some vested interest organizations are attempting to create rumors regarding the deterioration of the law and order situation. The truth is that data from the previous ten years reveal that crime in all major categories is at an all-time low this year, as confronted by him.
He stated that any attempt to incite disorder was immediately tackled, and that senior officers and additional security personnel were sent to restore law and order. Former Director General of Intelligence Anurag Dhyankar attended the ceremony and emphasized the police’s commitment to public safety. The Tripura Police Department marked Police Commemoration Day on Monday to honor personnel who gave their lives or made the ultimate sacrifice while on service.
