In a time when mental health conversations are becoming more prominent, ITC’s “Feel Good With Fiama Mental Wellbeing Survey 2024,” conducted by NielsenIQ, reveals a profound contradiction. While 83% of respondents believe that mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of, an overwhelming 81% still feel embarrassed to admit they are undergoing therapy. This emotional struggle reflects a deeply ingrained stigma that continues to inhibit open discussions about mental well-being.

Financial concerns also play a significant role in the decision to seek help. The survey found that 77% of individuals perceive therapy as expensive, with 74% stating that health insurance does not cover mental health services. However, a glimmer of hope shines through, with 52% of Gen Z participants expressing willingness to explore virtual counseling options.

In Agartala, local perspectives echo these sentiments. While there is a budding recognition of the importance of mental health, many residents remain reluctant to seek therapy, fearing judgment from their peers. Mental health advocates in the region are urging for supportive environments to encourage individuals to prioritize their well-being. In response to these challenges, ITC Fiama is making therapy more accessible by offering virtual sessions at just INR 300. Sameer Satpathy, Divisional Chief Executive at ITC, emphasizes, “We are committed to making mental well-being a priority in every corner of India.”
