For the farmers of Tripura, a new wave of hope is on the horizon as HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company rolls out the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2024 season. Authorized by the Government of Tripura, this initiative will provide much-needed crop insurance to both loanee and non-loanee farmers across eight districts, including North Tripura, Dhalai, Gomati, and others.

The PMFBY scheme promises to safeguard Aman paddy crops with a sum insured of ₹85,922 per hectare and a farmer share rate of 2%. Farmers must enroll by August 31, 2024, to benefit from this program.

In North Tripura, where agriculture often faces the brunt of adverse weather conditions, the introduction of PMFBY offers a lifeline to local farmers. This scheme is expected to ease the financial burden of crop losses, encouraging farmers to invest more in their fields. By providing a safety net against unexpected disasters, PMFBY aims to foster a more secure and prosperous farming community in North Tripura.
