In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion and promote sustainable urban mobility, the Tripura government has announced a ban on the registration of new 3-wheeler passenger and goods vehicles in and around Agartala Municipal Corporation starting from July 10.

The Transport Department issued an order stating that the prohibition will encompass all types of 3-wheeler vehicles, including e-Rickshaws, e-Carts, e-Autos, Petrol Autos, Diesel Autos, CNG Autos, and vehicles powered by bio-fuels such as methanol and ethanol. This decision aims to enhance public safety and convenience while encouraging alternative transportation methods.

“The ban is imposed in the interest of managing traffic congestion and ensuring sustainable urban mobility,” the order stated. It further directed the Transport Commissioner and District Transport Officer (DTO) of West Tripura to enforce strict compliance with the new regulation.
