The number of pilgrims who died in the intense heat crossed 645

The deaths of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are on the rise due to extreme heat and heat waves. A diplomatic official of that country said on Thursday that 645 deaths of pilgrims have been identified so far. There are 90 Indian nationals on the list. According to the Saudi government list, more than half of the pilgrims who died due to heat illness were Egyptian nationals. Apart from this, many citizens of the West Asian country of Jordan also died while going on Hajj. The Riyadh administration has arranged to keep the bodies of dead pilgrims in the morgue of the Al-Muaysem area near Makkah.

Last time, 240 people died during Hajj. This time, twice as many pilgrims have died. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Government of Saudi Arabia have announced the commencement of Hajj on Friday according to the Islamic calendar. So far, about 18 lakh people have come to Hajj. Among them, 12 lakh pilgrims came from abroad. Many people have become sick due to the crowd and heat. They are being rushed to the hospital for treatment. Hospitals in the country claim that most of the deaths are due to heat stroke.
