Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Confirms Readiness for Lok Sabha Vote Counting

Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer, Puneet Agarwal, has declared the completion of comprehensive arrangements for the counting of Lok Sabha votes scheduled for June 4. During his inspection of the counting hall and strong room at Umakanta Academy in Agartala, Agarwal assured that preparations are on track to ensure a seamless vote-counting process. “Preparations have commenced across all 60 counting halls, spread across 20 different sites. Various measures have been implemented to ensure smooth and orderly vote counting at each polling station, including CCTV systems, firefighting equipment, a three-tier security system, and uninterrupted power supply,” stated Agarwal. The CEO’s inspection forms part of a series of evaluations aimed at ensuring the efficacy of security measures and logistical arrangements. Agarwal emphasized the meticulous planning involved, detailing extensive security protocols being enforced.

“No complaints regarding the strong rooms have been received so far. The three-layer security system includes CAPF, State Armed Forces, and Tripura Police. We are also working to enhance security,” he added. In addition to the security apparatus, Agarwal noted the collaborative efforts of administrative officials and political party representatives in reviewing and bolstering the security of the strong rooms. This collective oversight aims to maintain integrity and promptly address any concerns. Expressing satisfaction with the current security measures in place across the state, the Chief Election Officer highlighted the coordination and preparedness of the involved agencies.

The presence of a robust security framework, comprising CCTV surveillance and continuous power supply, aims to prevent disruptions during the vote-counting process. The detailed preparations underscore the administration’s commitment to conducting a transparent and efficient election. Agarwal’s proactive approach in inspecting facilities and ensuring comprehensive arrangements reflects the significance of the Lok Sabha elections.
