Former chairman of Tipra Motha and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma made a fervent appeal today, stressing a non-political stance in the hunger strike set to commence from February 28. He urged all participants to attend as indigenous individuals, setting aside political affiliations and flags. Speaking to reporters, Pradyot underscored the urgency of his travel to Delhi for a crucial meeting with the Government of India, seeking unequivocal assurances from the central government. “If they assure us, then we don’t have any problem, but we want it in black and white,” he asserted.
Highlighting the imperative for indigenous people to unite for the sake of the state’s future generations, Pradyot reiterated, “I am not speaking for my party; I am speaking to secure the future generations.” Stressing the inadequacy of verbal assurances, he emphasized the demand for a clear, written commitment from the authorities.
During the hunger strike scheduled to commence on February 28, Pradyot emphasized the absence of Tipra Motha flags or any political party flags, advocating for unity solely among indigenous people. “This fight is for the indigenous people, not for a specific party,” he emphasized. “The struggle will persist until justice is achieved.”
