In a significant leap forward for healthcare in Tripura, GB Pant Hospital’s super specialty block in Agartala now stands fully equipped to undertake intricate cardiovascular procedures, announced senior cardiologist Dr. Anindya Sundar Trivedi on Thursday. Dr. Trivedi, addressing the press, underscored the hospital’s recent milestone of conducting around 120 cardiac procedures, including 30 to 35 angioplasties, over the past two months. Notably, the hospital now extends services such as angiography, stenting, and pace-maker implantation at nominal charges.

Encouraging patients to repose trust in Tripura’s burgeoning medical infrastructure, Dr. Trivedi urged against seeking advanced treatment outside the state, potentially averting significant out-of-pocket expenses. Echoing Dr. Trivedi’s sentiments, Dr. Rakesh Das, another esteemed member of the hospital’s cardiology team, emphasized the hospital’s capability to perform peripheral angioplasty locally, eliminating the need for patients to pursue costly procedures at private medical facilities.

Dr. Das shared a compelling anecdote of a patient who, faced with acute leg pain, received timely intervention through peripheral angioplasty, thereby thwarting the looming threat of leg amputation. Furthermore, Dr. Das highlighted the hospital’s triumph in treating a female patient with blocked arteries in her legs, effectively salvaging both limbs from potential loss. He reassured the public of the hospital’s adeptness in employing advanced techniques, such as device surgery for “hole in the heart” cases, obviating the necessity for open-heart surgery in certain instances.
